Albeit I am very late in posting this quick blurb but I finally got around to it anyways.

Having heard the Neko D100 the first time back in Canjam 2009 driving a Headamp GSX. I found the sound uninvolving and bass shy.

When the chance came to listen to the D100 once again in my home rig I jumped at the chance as I wanted to give it a fair shake down.

The D100 was going up against my Assemblage DAC 2.7 and DAC 3.1

I ran the usual gamut of reference discs that i Use:
Kari Bremnes - Norwegian mood HDCD
Barb Jungr 24 bit/96kHz
Patricia Barber Companion XRCD
Burmester demo disc 3
Rachel Yamagata Happenstance
Natalie Merchant TIgerlily
The valley Recalls - Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia and Pandit Shivkumar Sharma
Marv Ellis - Mental Picture Machine

First off, the D100 does nothing wrong. However it didn't do anything exceptionally well either.

It has good extension on both spectrums with a tonally wonderful midrange. I still found it a little
bass shy and preferred the tonal balance of the two Assemblage over it.

It handled all that I threw at it pretty well and detail retrieval was a tad better than the DAC 2.7.

Honestly, this is a great piece of kit that does nothing wrong, but unfortunately for me, i never felt like I wanted to own it.

Thanks for the opportunity to listen to the DAC.
